What is Secondary Education? In the state of Georgia, students who specialize in secondary education graduate prepared to teach at the high school level, the ninth through twelfth grades. Whereas early childhood and middle grades education are responsible for laying a student's academic foundation, teachers working in secondary education teach their students in deeper, more complex subjects using that foundation. Additionally, secondary education teachers often play important roles in the lives of their students as they help them prepare for life after high school, including college, career and adulthood in general.
