Joy Botting
I am originally from New York, and I have always wanted to become a teacher. Even in kindergarten I wanted to be like my teacher. I would line up my stuffed animals and teach them various skills and subjects. In fourth and fifth grade, I started tutoring students. For I always knew teaching was my calling.

Oatanisha Dawson
Oatanisha always knew she wanted to teach. She began working with students as a paraprofessional at Jane Macon Middle School in Brunswick, Georgia. Unfortunately, however, in 1998, the state of Georgia had to eliminate a number of paraprofessional positions.

Ray Malmgren
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” (William Butler Yeats). Lighting the fire of education, either for personal learning or instructing others, is what Ray Malmgren has set as his lifetime goal.

Jennifer Newton
Jennifer Newton loves science, particularly earth and atmospheric science. She loves teaching, too. Jennifer’s love of science was planted in her by her teachers at Lakeside High School, in DeKalb County, Georgia. In particular, she credits, Mary Bergh, her high school earth science and my chemistry teacher, who, she says, “is the reason why I am teaching today. She made learning fun.”
